The Ring of Kerry virtual challenge is one of the many The Conqueror Virtual Challenges. The description of this challenge is as follows:

The Ring of Kerry Virtual Challenge will take you 124 miles (200 km) through the mystical Iveragh Peninsula in Ireland. This circular route has it all: scenic coastal landscapes, wildlife rivers, beautiful forests, small villages, old forts and peaceful monasteries.

Each time you complete a distance-based exercise such as running, walking, cycling, swimming, etc you advance along the map of the Ring of Kerry.

I only use exercises that you could do in a real-world version of this challenge, so swimming is for me no option. Cycling would be an option, so I consider that for this challenge. I am no runner, so running is for me no option in any challenge. My favorite activity is hiking and luckely that is the most common activity for this challenge. I prefer hiking in nature but that is currently not allowed because of the Covid-19 lockdown so I hike from home in my neighborhood. 

I started with this challenge om April 11, 2021 after completing the Giza Pyramid challenge. The distance to cover for this challenge is more than twice the distance for each of the previous challenges so I estimate conservately an average distance of 25 km per week resulting in 8 weeks as target for the completion of this challenge. A lot will also depend on the length of the lockdown. When the restrictions are lifted I will be able to start hiking in the nature. My nature hikes are shorter than what I do in my neighborhood. We will see.

The Giza Pyramids virtual challenge

The Giza Pyramids virtual challenge is one of the many The Conqueror Virtual Challenges. The description of this challenge is as follows:

The Giza Pyramids Virtual Challenge will take you 46 miles (75 km) through the fascinating city of Cairo right to the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Each time you complete a distance-based exercise such as running, walking, cycling, swimming, etc you advance along the map of the trail.

I started this challenge on March 29, 2021. Based on my experience with the Mount KIlimanjaro challenge I decided to set 5 weeks for this challenge. Still not very ambitious as is clear after the first week in which I completed a bit more than half of the total distance. Apparently I am now used to hiking 5 to 7 days per week for about five km or even more per hike. In the end I completed this challenge in 11 days.

The Mount Kilimanjaro virtual challenge is one of the many The Conqueror Virtual Challenges. The description of this challenge is as follows:

Sometimes the mountain will come to you, but after you complete the challenge! The Mt. Kilimanjaro Virtual Fitness Challenge takes you 60 miles (97 km) through the beautiful landscapes of the tallest mountain in Africa. Each time you complete a distance-based exercise activity such as running, walking, cycling, swimming, etc you advance along with the map of the Mt. Kilimanjaro.

I started this challenge on March 8, 2021. Initially I thought to take 12 weeks for this challenge based on 10km per week for ten weeks (2 hikes per week) and two weeks spare in case I couldn't go on a hike in one of the other weeks. This soon turned out to be not really challenging, so I lowered the completion time to 5 weeks with 20 kilometers per week. So I had to start hiking more often than I was used to or to do longer hikes. In the end I completed the challenge in three weeks! So indeed a good motivator to hike more often and/or longer.
